RTAS Synth/Vocoder
« on: September 08, 2005, 01:35:04 PM »

I've been searching around trying to find a good RTAS Synthesizer/Vocoder, that will give me similar results to the MicroKorg Synthesizer/Vocoder.

Here are the two I'm deciding between:

Orange Vocoder  230 USD
Vokator               339 USD

Has anyone had any experience with either of these plugins, or know of any other good vocoders?  As always, I appreciate the help fellas.

i've used the Orange, and i dig it.  pretty simple + straightforward...but nice.

never used the Vokator...but i'm a big Native Instruments fan in general.  their products are often significantly more complex than most of what's on the market, and very cool.  i don't think i've ever used anything from them that i haven't liked.

Do you know if the Orange has a formant hold feature so you can alter the vocals with a MIDI keyboard?

To be honest, the Korg's vocoder is really above the ordinary compared to most of what you can buy today. Orange is not that brilliant really, it's difficult to get really intelligible sentences with it. Although perhaps you're only in it to make cool sounds.

Anyway, Orange is one of the better plugins on the market even though it tends to have that certain "Orange" sound no matter what you do to it.

The vocoder in Logic, EVOC20, is the best I have found as a plug-in so far.

You can play the Orange vocoder using MIDI.
