Encoding AC-3 and DTS ?
« on: September 02, 2005, 02:32:29 AM »

Just curious what any of you guys are using to encode 5.1 surround in AC-3 and DTS ?

We're currently using Apple DVD Studio Pro (v.3.02) A-Pack for AC-3,

and DTS Pro Series Encoder software for Mac OSX.  Cool

Dolby DP569 for AC-3. We considered Surcode but the throughput and flexibility of the real-time box won out at the time.

Nuendo for both, using the additional encoders.
To my ears, the Nuendo DTS encoder actually sounds better than the SurCode one (we bought that a lot earlier).

Advantages are that both run right off the Nuendo timeline.

Metering is courtesy of the Pinguin Surround Meters with the LEQ(x) addon.

Incidentally - both will also accept a 24/48 source file too.
There are a lot of encoders out there that will not.
