I've got an RME ADI-2 which does A/D and D/A. It's pretty good, and is better to clock to than the internal clock in my 002r as far as I can hear.

Do you have a price range? (well, of course you do, silly question!)

Look at the Benchmark DAC-1 at the lower end, and Prism or dcs at the high end.

I've heard a noticable difference in quality with my Mytek DAC96.

I use a good ol' TC Gold channel.
Great to track vocals through it, synth's , acoustic and even the stereo mix back to disk via it.
And it's internal clock pretty decent (as long as it doesn't need to run to many devices) and it is a compressor, EQ , gate and few other goodies.

Not too cheap though.
