A Norman Rockwell moment... Without the cute kids...
« on: August 12, 2005, 10:06:26 PM »

So for a week or so, I feel as if the room is leaning to the left a whisker.  So, I got out the tripod, carefully set it to the right position and loaded up my "calibration" project.

Sure enough, the meter is dancing between 84 and 85 on the left while the right side is dancing between 83 and 84.

The wife is mulling around, so I asked her if she could watch the meter for me while I go behind everything to make an adjustment on the amp...

I wanted to make sure everything was clean, so I turned the trim back and forth several times just for the helluvit.  Brought it up to somewhere I figured was close and the wife yells out "87...  88...  87...

86...

85...

86...

85...

84-85-8-85-8-85...  It won't stop changing!

So she looks at me and I'm giving her "one of those looks" and she says "WHAT?!?"

Okay, I suppose it was funnier if you were there, but I had to explain to here that every time she yelled out what the meter was reading, the meter was going to change...

Then I taught her what "  Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down  " meant.

Allright.  It was cute in the room at least...

Nice story John...

My wife, is not very technically inclined either...

But she does a great job as Studio Manager, Public Relations, Bookings, etc...

I listen to music, turn the knobs, & burn the discs.

We strikes a really good balance that way...  Smile

This is a great little "aside" thread.

There's been many times over 13 years of marriage have I gotten excited about some piece of gear or a new way to tackle a problem and told my wife about it.  She'll sit there, actually listening, have no idea what I'm saying, and just encourage me on.

And it means the world.

(Now I can show her this post and get brownie points!)

Look, I know it's mean.  But sometimes the end justifies the mean.

Agreed - thanks for staring it, John.

We must be married to the same woman. It's awesome having that kind of support...
