WOW!

That needs a power amp, but not above a few watts... right guys?

I once had a copy plate made in the 70's and sold it to a moron who put a 100w amp on it and blew it in 15 minutes..

This same moron made a perfectly good telefunken 24 track discrete machine fall down a flight of stairs..

what a jerk.

When you have the time replace all the electrolytic caps, they are available in the original sizes in germany I think.

Those amplifiers for the pickups are amazing.

How tight are you supposed to tune a plate?

I used to tune it fairly tight, but it seemed that the sound would thin out a bit when it was really tight.

Actually it would still be cool to know if I can hook up an amp directly to the pickups that are bolted to the plate.

the thing in the middle is a speaker without a voice coil.

you have the send from the mixer going to a small (tube?) power amp max 10W I believe.. could be even less.

you'll hear when you don't need any more volume.

the pickups from the plate are high-impedance piezos I believe and you cannot hook them up to your mixer. don't even try it.

they need the proper load and then they need an amp to bring the signal to line-level and also some EQ, since this is not a room but a sheet of metal.

you can hook up the piezo pickups to two DI boxes and solder a resistor as a load to make sure that the bass response is flat.

remember ceramic cartridges in old record players? this is the same stuff and it has a bass response which varies upon the impedance of the load.

..plus you'd have to stick the DI's as close as possible to avoid hum from the pickups.

why would you want to do any of this when you have two original tube amps already?

You might want to try that the other way round.

As for hooking up an amp directly, -If you insist, go ahead. If you blow it, you just killed your plate.

I say you'd be a fool if you did so without some measurement gear permanently attached.

Thanx for the advice guys....

I will proceed accordingly...

But let's get one thing straight...

I am a fool whether or not I hook said peripheral to anything.

(spam alert)

I have TuneUp Kits in-stock with springs, clips, and an alignment disc.

I also have Aluminum Voicecoil drivers, in case you do destroy one, and piezo pickups (to be installed using rear view mirror adhesive).

We have probably sold our last Martech amplifier upgrade. Some parts have become scarce, and a redesign will be difficult (still, enough orders and we might be persuaded).

That sounds great!

You probably forgot all about calling me a nazi...

Anyway, I would be much more interested in getting it going without an upgrade.

The biggest thing is getting the wires hooked up to the right places.

lemme nough...
