I'm not too impressed - looking at their hype lines these don't seem to really bare any similiarity whatsoever except for the "SN10" name.  8" driver on this new thing for one.  From my understanding the white paper cones for the NS-10 woofers isn't being made any more - although you can still get replacements for both woofers and tweeters from Yamaha.  Based on the price I'd expect this to be a cheap sounding Chinese knock off that might copy some cosmetics but that sounds nothing like the NS10 - not that the NS10 sound is all that desirable anyway!  

While I still have a couple pairs the good ol' black and whites - both at the studio as a "garbage" reference - usually used for when clients want to hear what their masters sound like on something that they are familiar with - and as a mix speaker at my home studio - there are certainly much better options available now.  After having worked in various studios for 14 years that all had NS10's I just happen to be pretty familiar with all their various quirks and find I can usually get things to translate pretty well with the mixes I've done on them when they are coupled with a subwoofer.  Certainly not something I would invest in now as going rate for them that I've seen on things like ebay has gone way up the roof considering how mediocre they really are.  But I certainly see no reason to get excited about cheap monitors that just rip off the name.

classic argument but i think they suck (the originals that is)
and to keep the goon squad off my back, I will give a specific reason:  The hype on the high end leads people to turn down the highs to compensate and you end up with a muted mix  (equals suck)

Sounds like they're using the NS-10 comparison as a marketing gimmick...

...to get noticed, in an already crowded monitor market.

I've still got mine from the 1980's... replaced the drivers once about a decade ago.

At the moment they're on loan to  Eric Johnson & Richard Mullen for mixing.

I wouldn't use them in mastering anyway, except possibly for an extra reference.

I was happy to find someone who could pay $400 on them.
