final room phase done!
« on: July 13, 2005, 12:54:31 AM »

Gents! i'm finally done. i must say it was one of the bigest pains in the asses i could imagine.....but now worth all the effort. My long time friend Dean Rickard did the carpentry (he's a damb good drummer too)he made it happen.  although he only came twice a week for the last many months he was into evry detail of GA's plan plus some. there's still only a few peices of trim to do, & work on the outside of the new building but man did this room come out great!!
I spent a few days finding the right locations for the speekers & listening position. at first i thought i needed a sub but now everthing feel real ballanced with out the sub. it was a great experience to have one of my clients come in from brooklyn the other day, get some mountain air & a master that may be my best to date. I'm still waiting on some gear for the rack. but you get the idea....

I got away with about $60k due to near slave labour rates from my drummer friend. it's about an $80k room with a pro crew.

yes, joes garage, a bit LA slick in the production but a wonderful demonstration in the sound of vinyl

Congratulations Ed!  Looks great - I love the shot of the "chief mastering engineer" at work! Smile
Must feel really great to come out with everything settled after a long journey.

I think "Watermelon In Easterhay" from Joe's Garage Part II has to be one of my favorite guitar solos of all time.  Great stuff - FZ is definitely someone who is missed.

I'll make sure i get a close up pic of steve crashed out in front of the dunlavy's.
The BBQ is like 15ft behind the listening room so this clould be fun time. In a couple weeks i'll make it happen.

Congrates Ed, looks great. I wish you many years of successful mastering in your new room, as long as you don't take away any business from me. Very Happy

$60k isn't chump change, especially when the average CD mastering budget (according to a recent poll) is less than $1200. But it looks as though the room will put you in good stead for years to come.    Best of success with the new ship.

thanks,
it aint jump change is right, but I won't have the over head that some might have (just part of the morgtage) I don't know if it will add value to the house since most people want a real garge, but for me the both rooms are the ultimate work space for the different things i do in this biz.

I hope you guys can come out too in a few weeks.
Ed
