processing input of wavelab
« on: July 13, 2005, 12:04:20 PM »

Hello to everyone, I?m new to this forum and this is my first post.
At the moment I?m making plans for my new mastering suite and there are still some questions left. I would like to work with wavelab on 2 computers (one for play, one for processing and recording) equipped with RME DIGI 96/8 Pad.

Signal chain :
PC_1 RME out via AES/EBU - HEDD 192 (processing) -  analog chain - HEDD 192 (converting to digital) - PC_2 RME in via AES/EBU (processing with plug-ins and THEN recording)

So, my question is : Is it possible (using wavelab) to process the input signal of PC_2 with plug-ins, then record it - of course I want to listen to the processed signal ?

thanks,

Michael

I use a similar set up.
i use two instances of wavelab on one computer, but with two sound cards.
this is how i do it.....

wavelab 1 open for playing digital file->rme pad sound card 1->Y cable ->Copy 1 ->mytek stereo96 dac with attenuator ->monitor 1 in Coleman M3ph, copy2-> analog gear->mytek adc  ->rme pst sound card 2 --> wavelab 2nd window, record mode for capture(live input for realtime plugs & L2)-> out rme pst 2-> 2nd mytek stereo96 dac with attenuator ->monitor 2 of the Coleman,
a/b between monitor 1 & 2. Level match with the attenuators

Hi Ed,

Could you do diff sr in one comp with both cards?
ie card1 play @96k24 and card2 rec @44.1k16?
I plan to use two lynx cards, one for playback and one for capture... with wavelab app opened twice

sure, if the file is higher than 44.1 i may first set the source card to internal input to be sure of the correct speed of the file. I can then work from there or switch the card to aes input & set my adc to the correct sr.
i'm using the rme pad & pst.
