Shure RS25 - Any opinions?
« on: June 21, 2005, 02:41:14 PM »

my first new-topic post,
so just wanna start with a hello and a thank you to all contributers!
definitely gonna keep comin back to this great forum!

I spotted a recent local sale "Buy One, Get Two Free"
for Shure RS-25 Handheld dynamic mics.

Couldn't pass that up!
I brought them into my home studio and and was quite pleased.
I'd like to try them through some fancier pre's, but through
my mixer's onboards these 25's sound similar to SM58s to my ear.
so far got some great sounds on Acoustic Guitars, mic'd amps and a good balance of crispness and deepness on a female vocal.

Just curious to see if anyone else out there is using this rather less-than-common Shure mic, and if so, if you have any favourite applications.

As I use the mics more, I'll definitely try and add any positive uses I discover to this post.

thanks all

Duzer

FWIW, the letters "RS" in a Shure model number indicates "Radio Shack".

For better or for worse, there it is.

I have not used this mic myself but a search on shure.com gave me this:

I got the same deal a few years back on the RS25, I've done vocal recording along with guitar amp miking, and I also find it to be a very decent mic for being so cheap, I think it was like $69.99 for 3, I put a balanced line on it, and got even better results
