I remember timing a trip to the record store so that I could grab this disc the day it came out.

The first thing i remember is not how dynamic it was but how loud the drums were in the mix! Great drummer but very distracting to listen to at times.

No mastering credit listed but I did speak to a NYC mastering engineer who did the record. Whether it's his version or not we may never know?

Definintely, the COC is an easier listen than other recent discs  -  i.e. Mastodon (mastering:alan douches).

The new High On Fire balances level, dymanics better than anything in recent memory (in my collection anyway). Produced by Steve Albini. Mastered by John Golden
