For the record, two years ago, I told MM that I was working on a novel called "Record Producer from Dimension X" and I would like to borrow the term "Alsihad," and he said he had no problem with it. I also contacted bbchessman and asked him if  I could borrow the "NibNob" gag. Everything is above board.

yea, right! And I heard the movie deal is already a year old. And I heard that Tom Hanks is playing the lead role. Apparently he discovers that Quantegy kept a secret lab in the Louvre under some upside down pyramid scheme. At least that's what I heard....

I read some of your book. The only thing I would suggest is name changes for some of the characters. "Bastard' isnt a very interesting name and not particularly creative.
'The Fat Bastard' may have been a better choice. Maybe you could be thinking old style 'Mafia/gangster names.....basically an angle is needed through out as right now its awfully close to Mixermans story.

Or

What you should be doing is Ghostwriting for me. I am the Epitomy of the guy that nearly made it.......

Dang ... I was LMBO when I came up with it because it's so juvenile. I didn't know it was already used on a British TV show.

It has an angle ... it takes a few chapters to get there, though.

I still haven't gotten around to reading the MM stuff (a sin, I know...) but I enjoyed your story. Pretty damn funny, especially the part about solo'ing up the toms and pretending to tweak them for 15 minutes to shake the band's interest in being overly "hands-on" in the engineering process - a trick I may or may not have used myself  Twisted Evil

So where do I get one of those Nib-Nobs?

LOL!!

Alright, now please someone explain it to me.
Fenris, Vladismir, Mixerman...one big mess or one and the same ?
This is getting tiresome, you know. I'm too old for this stuff.

Please, Mr. Massenberg, sort it. Not worthy of this place.

I wonder who was petty enough to complain to the moderator about this thread?  Laughing

 Seeker-Ian...Sikorsky...Sikerian...Seekorsky...Valdismir...h a ha ha...
This is starting to make sense. Except the part where you think this ripoff is funny. That I don't get.
Time to muse over that with a Martini at the sands. Let me buzz Frank.

I just finished reading the Mixerman diaries and thoroughly enjoyed those as well. I see a lot of similarities ("Blenderman/Mixerman" being the only thing I felt was a bit TOO similar) but those aside, I don't see much evidence of plagiarism. Hell, any two engineers could write up a diary of their experiences in the studio and they'd probably come out fairly similar. They both use REP jargon, some originated by Mixerman, but if Fenris really does have permission to use those terms then I really don't see what the big fuss is all about.

Personally, I like both. Mixerman's comes across as fairly concise, and Fenris' writing appears to be more fictionally embellished for the sake of humor. Great stuff, all around. I look forward to reading more Smile

The next installment is up!

After this I'll post 3 or 4 chapters every Monday. Stay tuned for Chapter 14; that's when it gets interesting.
