Creative Audigy and Logic Multitrack recording
« on: June 08, 2005, 08:41:59 AM »

Hi there peeps,

I have just bought a new Audigy 2 zs... I want to use it with Logic Audio to record 2 tracks simultaniously. i.e. a mic (for singing) and a guitar (for strumming).

But in Logic I can only find one the input on the breakout box it comes in as input 1/2 in Logic...

Can someone give me a suggestion/help as to how I can route the sound from my mic socket on the card into logic, AND have the front panel input recorded as well?

Its Logic 5 on PC. I have tried all the options I can find. and can hear nothing but the one input.

Please please help its driving me MAD!!!

you have the micpre from the audigy and the line in from the audigy and you want to record them both simultanous? Right?

that's not possible.. sorry dude.. (I had an audigy 1 3 to 4 years ago and dealt with the same problem).

but you can even handle things in mono.. try getting a little mixer (4 channels.. ) then plug your microfones into to the mixer, pan the first mic full left, the second full right and go out on the mainouts of the mixer, straight into the line in of your audigy.. then you have 2 monosignal to record with:)

I would prefer you sell again the audigy and try something like the ESI juli oder some other product in this pricerange from M-audio.

cheers

Really?

The card does claim to 'support multitrack recording'...

And when I plug the different instruments in I can hear them all but logic can only hear one of them.....? This is driving me CRAZY! Crying or Very Sad

ok, then you are one step further than me.. or you have the newer audigy 2 or 4??!!

first install the ASIO4ALL driver oder driver from KVM.. this way you can lower latency down to 15ms(depends on the system)..

then we talk again..

please read about it here:

http://www.asio4all.com/

it's a driver for all kinds of soundcards with bad ASIO or non ASIO implementation.. it streams the data through the WDM-kernel ==> pseudo ASIO.. but it's mostly faster (regarding latency) than with normal drivers.. also the clock is stable.. I install ASIO4all mostly on homecomputers even to improve driverstability and soundenhancement (this is maybe vodoo)

Is this the only way I can record more than one track at a time?

no, but I recommend that driver for singlerecording too.. or you will have a massive latency.. (I think it didnt improve since audigy 1)

It will do 2 mono ins, or mix any combo of ins to 2 tracks, you just have to go to sounds control panel/advanced/recording and mute/unmute/pan proper sliders, some may need to be added to show.

But only a total of 2 tracks get to DAW app.

BTW, my M-audio audiophile 24/96 sounds like mush compared to my audigy2 platinum.

Irritatingly, its klugey to do other than a stereo pair I agree.

Actually, you are likely right re ASIO as I recall latency issues , I gotta see if I'm using ASIO on that box.
