number of errors on cd-r vs. pressed
« on: May 04, 2005, 03:39:24 pm »

Hey thought I would ask this question here, since mastering guys would know or have opinions about this topic.  Has anyone ever done a study of the average number of errors between CD-R/CD-RW and Pressed foil?

I was wondering if a program could be set up to view the data as it passed from the cd reader to the DAC and then do the identical track with a different type of CD.

I know that oversampling is supposed to smooth things out but people clainthat CD-r's and CD-RW's sound different and as a file storage system this doesn't seem logical, unless the read reliability becomes so bad that the laser is spitting out bogus data fairly often.
