UA 2192 vs Apogee PSX100SE in 16 bit/ 44.1 (UV22 question)
« on: April 22, 2005, 02:02:07 PM »

I apologize if this thread has been touched on in the past, but I have a specific question to those who have used both an Apogee PSX100SE and a Universal Audio 2192. If I am mastering a CD for replication (16bit/44.1), would an Apogee PSX100SE with UV22 have an edge over the UA 2192 at 16/44.1?

I have an amazing oportunity to buy a UA 2192 at the same price that I just bought a PSX100SE for (and that is showing up tomorrow).. People seem to gush about the 2192. I do like the idea of having 4 WC outputs from the unit.

I realize many don't consider the PSX100SE state of the art anymore, as it's a few years old (!) but I'm sure it will be a marked improvement to my onboard Masterlink or Finalizer A to D's. (don't flame me). I have never used a PSX or the UA.

Any advise would be appreciated! This is my first post here!

Thanks.

Evan,

I have used both, and like the UA much better.

I used to live above Rich Williams' studio.  He designed that thing.  Is it really that good?  Better than Benchmark?
