Hi,
I'm new here and hope I will find lots of answers to my questions. Maybe even solve some problems for others too.  
I have a small recording studio. And often bands come to me to record a demo-, mini- or full-cd but they never have a budget to take it to a mastering engineer. I try to do some mastering myself, but I don't have the knowledge nor the right gear, except for a massenburg eq and a tc X3 mastering plugin, to do this correct. Maybe there are some tips out there that could approve my quick mastering?

Had the same problem 2 years ago..


use the PSP vintagewarmer.. use it on the whole downmix and do the finalizepreset..

add bass/treble.. and here we go.. the demo is much louder and bettr sounding..

I hate to "gurilla master" and it seems to me to defeat the purpose of an ME in the first place.  I love going to mastering sessions to see how my mix sounds to someone with "golden ears" in a romm they've been in for a long time.  It's usually a gratifying experience, although occasionally a rude awakening!!

To simply "add treble and bass and bring up the level" is not mastering!!  It's butchery!!!!

Don't listen to the track for a couple of weeks to gain a better perspective on how it sounds when you come to master it.
