A80 remote led numbers
« on: April 06, 2005, 03:22:09 PM »

Hi john
the lower left dig-et on  all the numbers on my remote is out.
But some times they come on for a few hours.
I've cleaned all the sockets and check all the cables but no luck.
I would love to get the print out for this. I can't find it in my Studer service book. Would you know what can cause this or what chip it is or transistor it my be.Any advise??
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim

I can't remember how old your A80 is but in any case the first thing I would look for is crud.  I recall that in older versions of that remote the "box" was a number of boards held together with Molex connectors and those would get cruddy and you'd loose a a segment or multiple segements all the same in all the number places... so...  crud, or the pseudo-medical name "Molexia" would be my first guess

how's the 8068?

Hey John
I've cleaned all the chip sockets and re seated them.
I will trying cleaning the molex conectors.
Do you know where i could find the print out for this box?
The neve is doing fine, I've been running 15 ips and I have to say with GP9 it sounds unreal so fat. I almost fool myself on play back I think the band is playing and look  and see its tape.
