Mastering DAW Support
« on: March 17, 2005, 01:48:23 PM »

OK.  Each day you guys mention your wonderful Mastering packages that cost a heck of a lot less that my darling SADiE.  Sometimes, I cry into my cereal that I made the wrong choice...

But now I am reminded one of the reasons I chose her....

At 4PM yesterday my Plextor Premium Master CD burner DIED!  Of course, I'm in the middle of 7 things!  So, I called the good people in Nashville to cry on SADiE US's tech support shoulders.

And at 9AM I had a replacement at my door.  No charge.

OK.  I'm not saying that I'm close to recouping the cost savings some of you have made by choose other (very legitimate packages).  But when my bacon is on the line, I know SADiE is there to cover me.

Sometimes that's more important.

Thoughts????

I guess that's worth the extra $9k...

What can you get, 100 Plextor Premiums for that?

Hehe, I'm kidding, Garrett. Sadie's support is fantastic, though it's definitely not free...

No, its only 98 after shipping.

It's not as bad of a deal as Brad makes it!  It's only 98 free Plextors.  You read it here.

We will now resume our scheduled crying into the cereal....

Hehe, no worries, Garrett. Sadie is a nice workstation. A few years ago having a host based system was the only viable option for a serious mastering facility, but now things have changed...

For example, Samp only crashed one time (which was sorta my fault) in the 19 months I used it and Sequoia has never crashed. Also, I actually prefer the fact that if a piece of hardware goes down, I don't have to rely on someone else to support it - I can jet down to Best Buy or CompUSA and replace virtually anything in my entire rig. In fact I could simply go out and buy a new computer (of almost any kind), install the soundcard and Sequoia (and the dongle), and be working again in an hour if every single componant in the computer died.

Of course I'm also the guy that keeps three extra Plex Premiums lying around "just in case".

Different stroked, I s'pose...
