« on: March 02, 2005, 02:28:18 PM »

Two great tastes that taste great together? I hope?

I got gigasampler just for the giga piano, I have no idea for the life of me to use it with Samplitude 7.22.

Can I use it like a VSTi? eeerrrr, wut?

any help is greatly appreciated.

no, you have to use it via Rewire (im into cubase)..

good luck.. tascam gigasampler and gigastudio are maybe the most buggy software around.. forget about it..

try out halion 2.0 (or 3.. ) from Steinberg.. you can use it as VST-instrument and load .gig into the halion..

try that.. you will be much happier!!

I haven't tried samplitude, I run Sonar, acid, and others.

I do have Gigastudio3 and run it usually on a box by itsself, but you can use it via ReWire into a DAW on the same computer, you have to watch out for the 2 programs being in contention for the input/outputs on the computer, set them up in preferences not to go after the same in/out pair.

BTW gigastudio by itself on XP Pro sp1 is VERY stable, low latency, on my P4 box.  And sounds amazing.

Samplers and DAWs are complex programs with lotsa bugs, you gotta just work 'em out. Giga just updated to 3.1, gotta update, fix old bugs, get new ones Wink

I only use it to play back samples from midi controller to audio out, ocasionally using Gigas' plugin FX.  It does this well.

Using it to a DAW via ReWire is pretty geeky, the 2 programs can be in contention for audio and midi ports, can be pretty hellish configuration-wise.  I use 2 computers.  I seem to remember chipset issues on some motherboards mentioned in the docs.
