Help - What effects are on these vocals?
« on: February 23, 2005, 10:25:46 AM »

Hi there,

I have a client whose reference vocals for mix are from the following CD.

Here's the link:
http://www.purevolume.com/deadpoetic

It's the first track "Dreamclub Murders".  Unfortunately, the mp3 sounds terrible.

If anyone might have any input on what effects are being used on the vocals it would be much appreciated.  While I'm not crazy about the way the lead vocal sounds, it's what he wants.  They sound very artificial and processed but I can only guess what's going on.

I may be way off base but this is what I'm hearing:

-extreme auto-tune
-a doubled vocal (I think it's an artificial double)
-delay

Thanks in advance.

- Autotune here and there with heavy settings
- Light stereo chorus
- the usual dose of verb and delay
- Lots of compression

The chorus comes and goes so I guess there's a second channel running the chorus with not so much compression or with a sidechain.
