So, Ryan, what did your Google search turn up?

As to the lack of morality and ethics of big corporations, there's a book out called
"The Corporation" by a famous law professor and he makes the case that big corporations inherently posess the trait of being "psychopaths." Basically, he shows that too many big corporations don't care about "right from  wrong, good from bad, defective products from high quality products" but only about expansion and the "bottom line."  Since they have only this "bottom line" mentality built in to the corporate laws, he shows how this can lead to really bad decisionmaking having a negative impact on society as a whole.

He suggests some possible reforms, which, if enacted, could have some positive influence on the music that we hear.

Anyway, it's easy to understand, fairly short, and worth a read.
Noam Chomsky wrote a nice blurb for the book.

my point exactly

in fact, corporations are amoral (not immoral) by definition, as morality resides within an individual

now, as we all know (some more than others), there have been some immoral individuals running record labels in the history of music, but that's a qualitatively different picture

i think, it's what lee f. was referring to in one of her posts

Yes, I think it may have been her point.

The song we're mixing on the "Mix Contest" thread has been described as "Emo" by some of the participants, somewhat accurately IMO.

Although it does seem like a fairly open-ended term for a genre.

There's also "Screamo," which is "Emo" with the added value of a screaming lead singer. Jon Parales did a story about this subgenre in the New York Times a few years back.

From there you're just one step away from "Dreamo," which would be "Emo" but with ambient instrumentation.

Add provocatively sexual lyrics, and you've got "Steamo." Hey, this is fun!
