OK, i've been thinking about this a lot for a few months.
i've noticed that this forum sees a lot of people looking for input on their songs, mixes, tracks, micing technique......whatever....
and it seems that (as it should be) people are kind enough to give plenty of their own opinions. let's face it, advice is just your opinion......
the thing that i noticed a while back is this:
every one hands out their opinion to the person who is requesting.....the the person requesting the opinions hasn't a clue if your opinion has any validity.
it's like me posting on an aerospace forum telling some engineers how to design the wings on a new plane.....they might read it and possibly entertain it.....but they are left with, "who the hell is this guy"
so, this thread will stand as an archive. i'd like to enforce it, but that's impossible, and it's not really something i'm interested in doing.
i say, if you want to spew opinions that shape another recordist's method, mindset, approach, and/or beliefs, then you need to make some of your work available to be heard, so anybody reading about what your method, mindset, approach, and/or beliefs can judge for themselves if they want to go down that road of what you are telling them to do.
i don't want to see anyposts in here critiquing mixes, bashing mixes, praising mixes.....NONE OF THAT IS ALLOWED, and i'll delete it on sight....
you post links to your mp3's of your choosing
if it's work you can't let people down load then put up real audio files or something.
i don't want to hear any crap like, "i did johnny big-shot's record, go buy it"
if you can't post links to audio files then don't bother posting in here.
if you don't have a way to host files, contact me via PM and i'll be glad to host a few mp3's for you.
i also don't want to see giant disclaimers, or huge paragraph explaining what the heck the session is all about.
post a link or two and leave it at that.
over and out.
