Submitting AMG information
« on: February 03, 2005, 11:02:52 AM »

I have read some horror stories on this site as well as others about the submission of record credit info to All Music Guide. I am going to try and be as cautious as possible when submitting the information because the general consensus is that they are relatively quick to post the credit information regarding the record submitted but if they make errors on credits it takes them sometimes years (or never) to correct these errors.
One story happens to be a good friend who has "on record credits" on several albums but AMG always leaves his name off when he is eng, or prod. and yet they list additional musicians etc.
What I'm getting at is I need to know the best way to go about making sure they get the correct, most clarified information. Any tips on how this can be done? Also what are the actual steps for submitting an album to be listed on AMG.com? I tried to look it up on their site but couldn't find it.
What has been your personal experience with this and other related sites? Are there others to submit to? If so, which ones?
Thanks in advance for any help given.

I wish I knew. I have the same name as a couple of other guys listed on AMG and they keep mixing up our credits. I've emailed them a bunch but it takes forever to change.

I've given up, those meatbags with levers never respond. Hell they only have the guest musicians and the mastering guy listed on an album i did.

i was directed to my "credits" on their site a few years back.

it was interesting to say the least.

i emailed them, they replied interested in correcting the wrong

the next day (prior to replying back to them) i received a random email from a PSW poster with questions about my credits.

i decided it was best to not have that info published on such a site that has trouble getting it right.

i emailed them asking to pull my credits as i'd like to not belisted.

it was down the next day.  i check from time to time and i have yet to show up again.

my credits were stupid ayway....wasn't like anyone was going to be impressed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't your credits have to be listed there to be able to be a voting member of NARAS? Which is mainly the reason I wanted it done in the first place, other than the fact it is kinda nice to see your name under something you've done that you are proud of.

Thanks,

Hiya,

How does a name show up on AMG to begin with, and where do they get their data? My name came up there, but with no info whatsoever.

I was thinking about sending them information, but from what you guys are saying now it seems maybe it's just better not to bother.

Cheers,

i'm pretty sure you can fill out some paper work to get voting privelages.

i couldn't care less about voting anyway, it's not like i get anything from it, or anything changes because of it.

I gave up on that site ages ago. They never responded to my emails. Do they still exist?
