Right, it IS that simple!

To PC or not to PC? The answer is the application you need.
If I could either use an app. on Windows or a similar app. on Mac I would always take, guess what (?), the Mac.
I cannot tell you the reason exactly, I just like the Mac, maybe irrational.

Sequoia is great and Sonic on the Mac side did loose the race. So if I had to have the possibilities of Sequoia, no question, I would use a windows PC - without hesitation.

These are just a few tips for people who want to run a smoothly operating PC daw.

(1) If you're running internet on the machine, use Firefox.  Do NOT use MS Internet Explorer. You can get Firefox (totally free) at http://www.mozilla.org.  You know you can trust Firefox because anyone that programs malicious internet shit is using it, and they don't want to be infected themselves!

(2) Cut the crap.  Uninstall Quicktime (which has a ton of embedded spyware) unless you bought the program and also know how to silence the spyware.  Don't run trash programs like Weatherbug, Stock Tickers, Fox News tickers or anything else.  Those are memory and bandwidth intensive.

(3) Don't run Kazaa unless you run Kazaa lite or a similar "hacked" version that doesn't have spyware embedded.

(4) Operate with two drives.  Never mixdown or record to the drive that has your OS and other crap installed on it.  Save all your DAW project files on the audio drive as well.  This is a no-brainer, but I never got serious about it until my band's masterpiece was lost.  And you never want to pay upwards of 5 g's to have ex-FBI dudes scan your broken drive!

(5) Disable Window Animations under Control Panel/Appearance/Display/Appearance and then click Effects.  Even if you're running your DAW on a fuckin' beast like I am, this can slow down your load times and possibly latency to your setup if you're multitasking alot.

I'll post more if anyone likes these tips.

Why not simply buy the platform that best works with your chosen software?

That is some of the best computer advice anyone could offer.

I use a Dual 2Ghz G5 at work and a 2GHz P4 at home. Both have their flaws as far as I'm concerned and both have served my needs. Of course the only audio I'm running is max 24 tracks of 24-bit/48KHz audio, but I don't have any problems with my PC running that many tracks with plugs on every track plus on the mix busses (upwards of 7 to 8 busses).
