I wana know if the quality of the pre are the same if i buy a vintech 473, or should i buy 4 vintech X73 i will be recording drums(pop and rock) in my home studio , so i do need 4 pres, i just wonder about the quality of the preamp,is the vintech X73 pre are the better quality(sound wise)  than the 473, that unit (vintech 473) look like a nice unit......can someone help me,,,thank's

Well..

The 473 is an X73 except the EQ's are scaled back. So you have less EQ manipulation but having four pre's does have it's advantages.

I would go for the 473. I think having the pres is worth more than tons of EQ and one channel.

The 473 is a better value per channel, since you're not paying for four separate chassis or power supplies.  If you can live with the less flexible eq, it's a good deal.  

Of course, if the 473 needs repair on one channel, the whole thing has to go back.  Not so with four X73's.  This is something to consider; if it ever needs to be sent in for repair, can you afford to lose four channels of preamps for a while?

thank's Harvey for your answer,,,,,,and you do have a good points,,,,if my 473 need repair, i'm out of pres,,,,,,,,that's something that i got to think about ....but as far as the pres,,they are the same, it's just that with the 473 i got lees EQ , am i right ???????
