Frankenconsole Revisited: Summing/Master Section
« on: January 04, 2005, 04:54:48 PM »

As it turns out, my partner and I are piecing togather a custom console.  The summing/master section is up for debate between us, and I was interested to hear if anyone had any thoughts.
It's basically between buying a Folcrom and a Coleman
or
buying a master section from a Neve or something and making that work.
One of us is a bit skeptical as to whether spending the money on a Folcrom and a Coleman would be worth it...
and the other one of us is skeptical as to whether the work involved in making a master section from a console work with everything else is worth it...
Also there is debate (and niether of us know enough about it to really say) as to how big an impact Passive Summing vs. an ACN would make on our project.
Any thoughts would be helpful.

I forgot to mention that this console probably won't be used during tracking.  Mostly just for mixdown... if that helps.

Ooh.  Thanks a lot.  That looks like something to look into.
