GML MODEL 8900 Question ( Series III )
« on: December 14, 2004, 06:27:56 PM »

This is a question about my Dynamic Gain Controller GML 8900:
Sometimes , when I switch on, the gain control indicator is at the leftmost position   (red), although there is no signal fed. Also the crest-factor is all red. After a while, (several hours) the indicator comes back to normal position, like when no signal is indicated. Where does this come from. Is this a sign of a damage?
BTW: is there a certain time when the device should get maintenance?

Thank you for your answers.

I'm sure if you put in a call to Geoff in support, he'll take care of troubleshooting and dealing with the problem for you- he and Manley provide fantastic customer service for the GML products.  I recently had an issue with the input gain on my 8900 and it was taken care of as easily as any problem I've ever had with gear.  The only part that sucked was being without the 8900 for a week and a half (I had put up with the problem for months because I didn't want to work without it.)

best,

r.

ps.  I see the GML site is under construction now- try calling Transamerica Audio to get the number.  702-365-5155
