Free Multi-Track software
« on: December 07, 2004, 05:51:17 PM »

Hey All -

I got suckered into doing a little project where we are making a funny parody of a song at work.

I was able to strip most of the vocals out of the song using Goldwave.

We recorded the parody vocals (not at all in tune) today at work in a conference room.

I need to add the vocals to the existing music that I stripped - is there any software out there that I can download for one time use to mix the vocals with the music?

Please Help!!!

-Joe

Well, you get what you pay for.

Do a search for "N tracKs Studio"

It is definitly not at the level of professional software. It will mix, with a various degree of quality. I think they offer a time limited demo that functions. I was at a studio once that was waiting on their big rig and they were using the N track program. It is a resource hog though..better have a decent machine.

Disclaimer. I would use it for emergency purposes only and..I have never used it. I just remember it.

Anyone know of something better for this application?

Audacity is meant to be more of a sample editor than a multitracker, but it does support multitracking, and it will do what you need it to. You might need to nudge the tracks into alignment when you're done, but that's a small price to pay for free. Wink
