Great River NV and GTQ2?
« on: December 04, 2004, 07:21:25 PM »

Hi All,

I'm thinking about getting an Aurora GTQ2 but already have a Great River NV.  Excluding the EQ feature on the GTQ2, would the preamps sound different enough between these 2 units to make it a valuable addition since they're both 1073 inspired?

Recording mostly vocals, bass, acoustic guitars, and direct synths.  Thanks to all who may have an opinion.

I hear the Great River is an awesome unit. That said, I've never heard it in person so I have nothing real to add. OTOH I have the original serial # 001 GTQ-2 and it is a great sounding box. The pre is incredible for vocals, it has a N sound but it's it's own flavor. People (freelance engineers) flip for that thing and always ask before the session is over where they can get one. The eq is limited but JUST RIGHT, IMO it'd be best to have both units. Heh heh.
