48K mp3s
« on: March 10, 2011, 11:51:28 PM »

Just wondering if anyone is working at 48K so that they can make higher quality mp3, aac, etc?  Since they can play at 48 with now hangups on a computer and in most mp3 players, it should have extended bandwidth over 44.1.  Right?

Not me.  I've found the difference from 44 to 48 pretty negligible.  If I'm working at higher sample rates I usually go for 88.  That way, the final conversion undergoes 'less math' than 48 or 96, if it ever ends up at 44 somewhere down the line...which it likely will.
