What software recording packages offer built in latency compensation for audio plug-ins?

Samplitude and Sequoia have full latency compensation from busses all the way down to the Object level.

I also believe that Nuendo does. Maybe Cubase sx 3 does as well.

Nuendo seems to be the best native system on Windows. Any disagreements?

I think it depends on what you want to do...  To say any system is "the best" will get you into a long-ass thread like the DAW one on Mixerman's forum over on the MARSH.

Personally, I use Sequoia- for my work it is by far the best choice for me.  Since others have a different work-flow, they may find something that you prefer...

Hey Ben, is Samplitude completely a subset of Seqoia? Are there things that Samp does that Seq doesn't?

I always thought of Sequoia as more of the editor and Samplitude as more of the tracking/mixing app. Is that assumption incorrect?

Sequoia can do everything that Samplitude can plus a whole lot more...  (It also costs 2-1/2 times as much)

Sequoia's extra features are in editing, mastering and post.  The basic functionality is the same, though (and the audio engine is the same).  For the work I do, the extra features in Sequoia are a necessity- 4point editing, crossfade editor, DDP mastering delivery.  The added surround in Version 8 will also likely be useful for the occasional surround gig I do.
