Fender hot rod deluxe failure-need advice
« on: September 22, 2004, 02:19:24 AM »

I know it's off topic but we have trouble with the amp and we need  it soon for recording.Recently, when we opened it,it stopped working.
a)all valves are lit.
b)We can hear a distant and distorted sound when we crank the volume up.
c)The preamp out into an other amp's power amp input, works.(bad sound but ok volume
I suspect the electrical transformer caused this(110v to 220v).The amp says it needs 180w and the transformer is 200w (we tried another and it didn't work).Do we need a bigger one or should we seek the cause elsewhere? And what do you think is damaged?
Thanks in advance.
