I don't understand the mindset of cheating in college, at least in an audio program (can I assume we're still talking about anything R/E/P related here, or is that over? Do Saint and Fletcher still look at this place?).
I have three college degrees. In twenty years of doing live event recording & production, not a single person has ever asked to see my transcripts.
Not one.
Nobody has ever said, "Gee, wish we could hire you; but what's with this C you got?"
It's "Can you do the gig?" If not, you're fired. Pretty simple - there's no shortage of qualified cats to sit in that chair if you can't hack it.
How insane is it that you will PAY someone to give you assignments designed to build your skill set and enhance your knowledge; that you will send HOURS of your life in a classroom with that person attempting to teach you something of worth; and then you will simply waste that time and money by not doing the assignment, not even trying - just avoiding it altogether.
It's mind boggling. Who cares what grade you get? Did you actually learn anything? If not, what was the point? I'd rather get a D, but actually learn something, than get an A having gotten nothing out of it.
Do something else you're actually interested in (or that you can make money at without caring), 'cause unless you live, eat, and breathe this stuff, you stand zero chance of succeeding in this industry.
I'm probably biased, 'cause I teach (and have taught) for numerous audio, media, and film programs at a few colleges here. I'll tell you: I don't give assignments for MY benefit: it's more work for ME! I have to grade them, suffer through them (in some cases), and give feedback. The college will still sign my paycheck, whether you do the assignment or not; whether you cheat or not...
In the end, you've only cheated yourself. That's not a cliché - it's the absolute truth.
