Using a New U67 head assembly on a vintage U67 / Essence
« on: September 24, 2022, 05:12:01 AM »

I was told by the great  Tom Onofrio  they are interchangeable. I have some other K67 capsules that I would like to have in the mix. If they are interchangeable, I could swap the head baskets for  a different K67 capsule  and get a different sound.
I am wondering if Neumann will sell these (minus the capsule), and how much one would cost?

Also, off topic a wee bit down the chain, ,, has anyone any experience with the Buzz audio essence on clean ish electric guitar ?  Is it an LA3a Mach  II with its added  side chain functions ?

You can plug a modern KK67 head onto a vintage U67. The only thing you need to do is either cut off the ground pin in the head or, more elegantly, drill a small hole into the head board where the ground pin of the head would go (it's already marked with a slightly different surface color in the head board).

You can buy the KK67/KK870 head assembly with or without basket from Neumann.
