Was there ever a time early on when V14 tubes were just not stamped with an M? Is it proven that non-M VF14 tubes are inferior?

VF14M or VF14 without M?
My Sticky (
https://repforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/topic,1149.0.html
) explains this. Read the last few chapters.
Neumann always selected and labeled VF14 with low microphonics with a white "M" paint stamp. Only after those ran out, in the 1970s and beyond, Neumann also installed and sold non-M versions.
As I hinted in the Sticky post: ALL VF14 are microphonic. A more or less arbitrary cut-off was established whether the ringing of the tube's filaments was acceptable or not. Hence borderline non-M versions that ended up being sold even by Neumann will work just fine.

Klaus, have you ever run across a VF14 that is glass, coated fully with zinc, and then painted?
I understand that some were made like this, maybe RFT(?). I have never seen one, though I have seen other “metal tubes” that are really just zinc coated and black painted glass.
