Yes, it always amazes me how quickly they are ready for action. Sometimes I’ll gain up the mic pre and pull up the fader during warm up to listen to the “tinkling” of the filaments(?) heating up. I’m assuming it’s the sound of expanding metal, as it reminds me of a miniature version of a baseboard heater warming up. I haven’t gotten the stopwatch out, but there may be a latent “ping” or two after the 60 second mark...
Or was that warning put in there to ease people’s worries about having “no audio” at all while the tube is heating before the mic “comes to life”?
As in: “Don’t worry if you don’t hear anything for the first minute.”
Not: “Perfectly stable for use after 1 minute”.
