Does this look like a real Neumann capsule?
« on: March 19, 2020, 01:39:21 pm »

I obtained this K67 capsule. According to the owner, this capsule was used in early U67 microphones. (Probably in the mid 60's.)
It was never reskinned and looks pretty good, if the age is correct.
I quickly tested the capsule and it works without any problems. It sounds good.
But I never saw the gray 'paint' on the screws of the tensioning rings.
As far as I can see, there is FZ 32 (or F2 32) written on one side and AL 68 on the other side.
The seller seems an honest person, and I can return the capsule if I have the impression that it isn't a real Neumann capsule.
I tried to make some pictures of this capsule with my limited equipment...
Your opinion would be highly appreciated!

The capsule may have been out of its original mount, lacking the sealing lacquer on the four mounting screws, but I do see the gray paint on every of the diaphragm's screws. That's what matters.

The capsule you show is the third generation, stock-original K67 version from the early to mid 1960s.

Congratulations!
