Spider Inserts question

Could someone clarify how to wire the inserts of a spider to a patchbay? I don't understand if the plug required is a TRS or as the manual says, phone jack.

The manual clearly states that the insert point is of the unbalanced TRS fashion - tip/send ring/return.
