Ron,
During the ELA M period, AKG used a Doefler Kabelwerke product with insufficient shield coverage, compared to what was used by AKG earlier and also was standard in German broadcast cables - a double-corkscrew ("Reussen") layer of fine copper strands achieving 100% shield coverage.
Gotham's GAC 7, a cable made on the original machines and with the same method as the original Doerfler broadcast cable, has the double-Reussen-layer shield which prevents 100% RF and hum interference. An added bonus is the fact that the GAC7 does not impinge coloration-its neutral sound qualities do not interfere with the sound characteristics of fine vintage and contemporary condenser mics.
(I sound like a company salesman, but receive no kickbacks, free sex or discounts from Gotham.)
