My experience with Sony mic service is that if the model is not in current production, there is no support except for replacement capsules for some discontinued models (assuming that capsule is still in production and used for a mic still being made).  They would not service a C38B I had, for example, because it was not the current C38B reissue even though most all of the parts are the same on both the vintage model and the reissue.  The problem is most acute with their FET mics where parts are harder to find.  I have had the same experience with other Sony professional products.  My C38B was later stolen by a drug addict artist I was recording and because it never worked, I though he got what he deserved (which was a nice looking paperweight).  We are all spoiled by Neumann who will service virtually anything they ever made.
