Lex 300L restoring backups
« on: August 04, 2015, 06:55:24 AM »

Must be someone out there with a simple answer to this.
I need to change the backup battery on my 300L, but first I need to backup my custom stuff.
Section 7-8 of the manual clearly states how to back up stuff on Midid, including registers.
However, it does not tell you how to put them back in !!
I have done this on my PCM70's and its a doddle.
Anyone know how to do this on the 300L.
I also need to be sure that the mdid dump I make is the full monty, and not just a blank file.
Thanks anyone.

If its a sysex dump, you just dump it back into the 300 and it will read it.
To check if your original dump has anything in it, use a hex file editor and look at the file. If you can read midi its not too hard. Or use a sysex editor program.

Thanks Doug, that's very helpful. Have never tried to read midi before, but will have a go at that, and see if I recognise anything. I used to write code years ago, so shouldnt be too alien to me.
Regarding putting the sysex dump back into the 300 - that is the step that is not actually described in the manual. Im sure its easy but I can't find it.
