Replacing the connector on a M367
« on: October 05, 2014, 04:22:25 AM »

I've had it with this silly French connector.  I would love to replace it with something else, but AFAIK, the corresponding U67 connector is not available from Neumann.  Do you have any recommendations for another solution that will be reliable and elegant?

The unobtainium U67 Tuchel connectors can be substituted with abundantly available M2xx connectors, both male and female. Same dimension as the U67 connectors, just a 30º offset of the pin positions. As long as you replace both, male and females, you will be in business!

I'm a little confused.  It seems as though I haven't I replace the whole baseplate on the 367, though.  No?

The confusion may stem from the terminology used: connector.
If you haven't solved the existing connector base issue (i.e. fitting a connector of different diameter into the existing opening),  my recommendation would be to switch to a U87Ai solution: install a U87Ai connector base, which should fit right into your M367 frame bars and their respective four attachment screws, and insert a 6-pin XLR.

No idea what is fitted to the mike but currently there is a new 7 pin Neumann cable for sale at ebay.de. It is only 100 usd.
Sold by Leo Eugen Schaal, supplier and manufacturer of PSU for older condensor mikes.

Klaus, the threading for the 367 is actually machined onto the base, so your U87 suggestion is probably the best one.  How does one go about obtaining one of those?
