« on: January 09, 2014, 04:56:07 AM »

Hi guys,

I have been a long lurker over at this forum and at gearslutz. I am sourcing for the Neumann M269/269c microphones for a okay market price and find a used microphone dealer in Japan.

However, I do not know how to identify capsule and would like to seek expert help from anyone here who can tell me if these microphone are worth purchasing with these capsule condition.

M269 Mic 1

M269 Mic 2

M269c Mic 1

M269c Mic 2

Lastly, this was on ebay and I am considering this as well. Would this be a good buy?

Thank you Klaus,

I actually live in an asian country where such information is rare.
I am actually purchasing this for my own studio usage and am always been intrigued by old microphones.
However, as prices for them aren't cheap nowadays, I would just like to know that my purchase is well spent.

I do understand your point about free information, I actually checked around for your book "the vintage microphone handbook" but can't find them on amazon or any international book seller that could ship it to my country; Singapore. Would you be able to point me to a good direction to purchase them, or if you have an ebook I would gladly purchase it from you.

Lastly, thanks for your verification I feel more confident with my purchase.

Kind Regards!

Hello Keith,
My book is not out yet, despite information on Amazon to the contrary.

Best,

Hi guys,

Just bought one of these microphone.

However, the bottom housing of my neumann m269 microphone which label the microphone model have some label scrapped off due to long time usage. Does anyone know where I can get this bottom housing replacement?

Two options:

1. You buy a new (black) badge for your existing housing tube

2. You buy a new U87Ai housing tube, and either buy a black badge or paint the purple badge that comes with it black, after stripping its purple color with acetone or similar.
