LIMITERS 2013

Hi,
What are your most used limiters?
I have been using TC BW II, PSP Xenon ( my favorite), Waves L3 Ultra and now starting to test Fab Filter Pro-L ( seems interesting) and the Ozone Limiter.
I really did not enjoy Sonnox Limiter very much. The TC Limiter ( from MD3 Suite) starts losing its heavy usage here.

I've been using BW2 in the TC6000. Alecio, how are you using the TC Limiter, I wasn't aware that they had BW2 in other formats yet. Or did you get a 6000?! ;-)

Hi, Dana.
It has been around for a few years. It is called MD3 Suite TDM for PT HD Systems.
They did not release MD4.

Hi, John
A bit off topic.. did You substitute your Ibis eq for a Neve Portico? There are some pics where the eq is missing.
thanks

Yep, sold the Ibis (right? Can you believe it?).
Been using parametrics less and less since the Bax (most of what I used the Ibis for was simple Bax-ish applications and doing the "surgical stuff" digitally).
Might pick something different up eventually I'm sure.
More off-topic -- That P2MB is a monster. Needs a hard bypass though. Not that it gets bypassed much...

Elephant, Sonnox, and FabFilter Pro-L depending on the program material.

Alécio, I was just checking out the MD3 limiter on the Sys 6000 and it's less full featured than the BW2 that comes with the MD4 setup. There are a few modes that come in handy and I think it can do a bit more gain reduction than the MD3 limiter.

I tend to use Fabfilter Pro-L. Their user interfaces are just great!
For those of you using G-Clip check out this new clipper that can do clipping of separate bands and clipping of mid or sides.

I to mainly use GClip as a digital limiter but I don't push it too hard. I'm curious John what knee value range do you tend to use?
I'm interest to try Clipshifter as I see it has a higher oversampling range which could help in reducing ISPs.

"It depends" (I know - Sorry). But it can be quite a range to be sure. If I'm using it as a simple "catcher's mitt" (I keep one inserted on the main buss "just in case" although usually it's never hit because I tend to capture at level and I don't touch it after) it's probably sitting at 96%, no gain and 12-15% on the -- uh... what's it called - Softness?
But there have been plenty of times where that winds up at 35%, 50%, 70% on occasion depending on the source and the application (usually
before
the analog chain).

Thanks John as I tend to use a very very similar setting alot of the time 97% clip & 10%-15% as the knee/softness with no gain as I don't like the way it sounds when I use the gain from the plugin.

Software - Elephant, FG-X
Hardware - DS1-MK3
Analog - STC8-M, MLA-2(8:1, not really a limiter...)
Update...trying out Fabfilter Pro-L and A.O.M. Invisible Limiter
