Will a UM70 capsule work on a 582 without doing any modifications? Thanks

No, neither mechanically or electrically.
(An M71 capsule will though, if the M582 has got a threaded capsule receptor.)

The M582 will need a new receptor part with a thread which also accepts the "ring" on the UM70 capsule.
Without redesigning the electronics, you'll only get cardioid pattern (and possibly omni).
