I did a little research around the web since Avid's announcement and wrote up what I found, from various sources.

Some cool new features, all things considered.

Yeah, I heard the announcement... hope it sounds better than the last version [or the one before that, or the one before that, or the one before that, lather, rinse, repeat as necessary].

I was thinking the same thing. Years ago another "new" version came out with that new hardware, the 24 bit xxx stuff or what ever the models now are.

I asked a noted LA producer about it and asked if it fixed the sound problems of previous versions.

About all I could get out of him was "it's better".

To me it was just another version of "close, but no cigar".
 
Still waiting for that cigar. I did hear a pretty good analog mixed Pro Tools production once. Turns out the guy said he used it as a straight recorder, no editing. One edit and I hear the Cylons here.
