HI,

I have this old doubt:
I have finished mastering an album, going from 48K 24 to 44.1k 24 ( ceiling set at -0.2)

Now I will be generating the CD bounces at 44.1k 16 bits dithered.

I am again investigating if there are any overshoots. Sometimes one file or another shall have gone up to 0.0 due to the SRC.

Is there a difference in quality if I do the real time bounce (tweakhead) with masterfader at -0.1 versus diminishing -0.1 from the waves with overshoots with audiosuite and then select export as 44.1k 16 bits?

I imagine Pro Tools HD ( 8.1.1 here) automatically engages a dither algorithm as that one set at the preferences whenever we export truncating bits.

p.s: I should use sample manager/Wave editor to do bulk conversion.

Thanks

i think making the two steps separate is best.  i'd use sample manager, that's what i use when i need to.  first do the SRC and then check for overshoots.  after that, dither down to 16 bit.  that seemed to help my workflow here.

That is what I have been doing for years with PT HD ( Fs to 44.1k 24 , then to  16 Bits).
