CMV563 swapping capsules when powered
« on: February 08, 2013, 01:41:30 AM »

Hello,
I have a cmv563 and 2 capsules.  I noticed a loud thump while changing a capsule when the mic is powered. Is it a good idea or the proper way is to turn off the PSU and wait?.
I did a search here and in google but didn't find an answer.

edit: I changed the question, maybe it wasn't well explained.  It's my first mic with swappable heads, and don't know if this can harm something.

... other than the speakers.   :P

The only thing you may damage is your ears, headphones or speakers, if you forget to kill the audio in your monitors, when you do the swapping. No voltage spikes that could damage the capsule will occur. You are safe.
