OTARI MX80 SYNC WITHOUT RS422?!?!?! SEL REPRO AT REC?!

DOES ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO SYNC MY OTARI MX80 WITHOUT RS422 OPTION?
IS IT POSSIBLE TO RECORDING LISTENING THE REC CHANNELS THRU THE SEL/REPRO HEAD?

Without the use of an external synchroniser through the 422 port, the best you can hope for is for other devices to chase the MX80, while the machine itself is in "free run" ie not locked.

Yes, like any professional 3 head multitrack, it's possible to listen through the sel/rep head. The remote makes this an absolute no brainer. You have the remote right?
