Second EQ and comp
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:45:24 AM »

Alright Fellas (and ladies?) Looking to add a second EQ as well as a second compressor to my rig. Currently I have an Ibis and an STC-8. Looking for suggestion regarding what compliment them well. I'm across the street from VK so getting demo units is easy, what should I try out?

Best,
Max

Maybe some Prism stuff? Or Weiss?

Also Bax EQ might be a good compliment to try.

Yes, the Bax is my second EQ and has firmly established itself here.

My other EQ, a Great River MAQ-2NV,  might also be worth a look to go with your Ibis for broader Neve-like strokes, especially in the midrange.

I am looking for a second eq in similar price range. even considered picking a second Ibis for more band in Stereo or even for dedicated analog M-S stuff.

I would really suggest you checking the Pendulum OCL2 to marry your STC8.
It is what I did here and I am pretty happy.

Is the OCL-2 available with stepped controls? I'm interested in an opto and I'm looking at both the OCL-2 and the Maselec MLA-2. From what I understand the MLA is stepped but not sure if thats an option for the OCL.

I'm not really in love with the Ibis so I definitely would not be interested in a second one...

Are you selling it?

I have seen the Drawmer 1968 but who uses it?

No plans to sell it at this point. I like it, just not to the point where I would consider buying another one.
