Allergies
« on: September 17, 2012, 11:32:36 AM »

I guess it is was the dry hot summer but my allergies are going wild. I know it is probably Ragweed but WOW. My head feels like someone put a damp dish towel into my head and keeps pouring mucus into it. This is the worst allergic reaction I have had in years. Any one else suffering this time of year?

It is hard to do mastering when you are sneezing and coughing and blowing your nose. Not fun!

I have been using one of these for the past two years. It does not seem to help with the current allergy problem. I started taking Claritin yesterday. Hopefully that will get this under control.

Thanks for the info. I use a Netipot but have never seen this unit.

As far as I know, the only thing that really works for eustachian tube congestion is pseudoephedrine (Sudafed).  Unfortunately the tweakers have made if very difficult to get, and some states (including Oregon) require a prescription.

There are a couple of times a year I use it.  Very green up here.

that all sounds like hay fever to me, am i right?

i'm allergic to animal fur, so clients that have pets sometimes bring unwanted side effects to the session :) i've got a great nasal spray, livocab (levocabastin) which is an antihistamin which means it should work for hay fever too.

I had to go see my ENT doctor yesterday. This was a long standing appointment not related to my current allergy problems. I had a C-T scan done of my sinuses a while back to check and make sure I did not have any internal sinus problems. Everything was AOK. She is changing my nasal spray and thinks I may have a cold/flu and allergies (NOT GREAT NEWS). The Claritin is really not helping and if it were just an allergy it should help. I am using the Netipot and it seems to be keeping my nasal passages clear. I found out yesterday that about 40% of the students at OC also have the same symptoms so it maybe something a student from a foreign land has brought with them since classes just started. Thanks for all the helpful replies.

We've been RUNNY NOSE STUDIOS for two weeks.  It's kind of goofy.  Allergy stuff isn't working that well.
